Clone Builders Build Queue: Why Builds Wait and How to Manage Them

Queued Clone Builders builds wait under the Queued tab until clones are free. See how to read crew status, free clones with Unassign and Deassign, and manage waiting jobs.

Quick answer

In Clone Builders, the build queue holds construction jobs that are not yet being worked on — it is the element that tracks active construction jobs. Queued builds wait under the Queued tab until clones are free.

  • Jobs enter the queue through the normal build flow: enter a build idea, choose its location, select how many clones to use, and hit Build.
  • The Crew management window is the hub for what happens next — it is where you read crew status and free clones for queued work.
  • The recommended beginner approach is to keep early jobs small and manageable so the queue stays easy to handle.

Why projects wait: clone availability gates the queue

All building in Clone Builders is done by the clones assigned to each job. Every build gets a chosen crew size — the default is 3 clones, adjustable with the minus and plus buttons or the More Clones capacity option. When those clones are busy, newly submitted work does not start building: queued builds wait under the Queued tab until clones are free.

Recorded gameplay shows the same gate from the player's side: after placing a build, the player realizes they have to wait for it to be finished, "otherwise I can't build anything."

Whether a second build can start while the first is still running is currently inconsistent in player reports: waiting until the current build finishes and working on different builds while waiting for another structure to finish are both described, and crew size or capacity may explain the difference. Check how your own session behaves before counting on either — crew size and capacity can differ between players.

Reading crew status while builds are active

Progress is readable in the Crew management window. It shows each clone's status while work is underway, with states such as CLONE 1: BUILDING for each active worker, plus a live piece counter for the model. While workers are active, the clones spawn, find a working position, then fetch and place parts automatically until the structure is done. A crew showing BUILDING with a rising piece counter means the job is being worked, not stuck.

If a crew looks inactive, that can mean either that the job is queued or that it is still processing — there is no separate in-game label for the difference — so check the project before assuming anything.

Roadmap

  1. 1

    Watch for the crew starting

    Confirm work has actually begun.

    • Start the project and look for signs that the clones have begun working.
    • If the build appears small, do not immediately cancel it — first determine whether the system is still processing the request or whether the prompt produced a compact result.
  2. 2

    Inspect the project in place

    Verify progress before acting.

    • Check whether clones are still working, and move around the project to confirm progress.
    • Avoid canceling a job before inspecting it.
  3. 3

    Run the checklist

    Decide between waiting and restarting.

    • Is the project visibly changing?
    • Are clones still assigned to the build?
    • Would waiting reveal more than restarting?
  4. 4

    Free a stuck character first

Fix positioning without spawning new jobs.

    • If your character becomes stuck near a structure, use normal movement and jump controls first rather than repeatedly creating new jobs.

Managing queued work

The Queued tab itself has no confirmed controls for canceling, reordering, or prioritizing an individual job. The levers you do have are crew-side: freeing clones, sizing crews, and pacing what you submit.

Tips

Free clones to start queued work

In the Crew management window, use Unassign or Deassign to pull a single clone off a task, or Deassign all to clear the whole crew. Freeing clones is what lets queued builds start.

Set crew size per project

The default is 3 clones. Use the minus and plus buttons, or open More Clones to add capacity.

Keep requests modest

Queue management helps prevent long waits on detailed or oversized creations, and it is worth avoiding unnecessary resets until you understand how the current build queue works.

What to do while jobs are queued or under construction

Mistakes to avoid

Problem
Sitting idle while the crew builds
Fix
Move around the server and inspect what other players are constructing. The HUD includes Speed, Noclip, Tools/Edit, Minigames, and Saves, so you can fly through your structures, edit parts, or store completed projects.
Problem
Immediately queuing another large project
Fix
Watch the clones instead of starting another large build right away. Construction may continue while you explore nearby areas — keep new projects modest until you have seen how your own session handles overlapping builds.
Problem
Long waits with nothing planned
Fix
Recorded sessions show players filling the wait with other activities — one drives a truck around the map while the clones build.

Queue behavior can change after updates

Treat the queue and crew behavior described here as current, not permanent. CLONE BUILDERS is designed as an evolving experimental building game, and updates can introduce new systems, currencies, mechanics, and changes to how players interact with their clones — the biggest update categories include clone behavior experiments and building-system changes. Returning players should check the latest systems before beginning a major project, and Queued-tab behavior, crew controls, and any queue limits should be rechecked after updates.
