Clone Builders Assign Clones: How to Set Your Build Crew

Assign clones to a build in Clone Builders by opening the build menu, entering your build idea, choosing the location, selecting how many clones to use, and hitting Build. The default crew is 3 clones.

To assign clones to a build in Clone Builders, open the build menu, enter a build idea, choose its location, select how many clones to use, and hit Build. The default working crew is 3 clones, and you can adjust the count before construction starts.

How to assign clones to a build

Clone assignment happens inside the build menu, after you pick the location and before construction begins:

Roadmap

  1. 1

    Open the build menu

Bring up the build menu where you want the structure.

  2. 2

    Enter a build idea

Type in the idea for what the clones should build.

  3. 3

    Choose the location

Pick where the build will go.

  4. 4

Select how many clones to use

This is the assignment step — set how many clones work on the project.

  5. 5

    Hit Build

On a clear surface, the clones start with a foundation and add parts individually until the model is finished.

Default assignment: three clones start on the job

You never place the build yourself — the clones do. You write the prompt and select the location, and the three clones assigned to the job collect the pieces and put the model together in real time while you walk around and inspect their work. The assignment step in the build menu is where you set how many clones work on the project, and the default is 3 clones.

Changing the assigned crew before and during a build

The crew size is set in the build menu before you start. The walkthrough of that step describes using the minus and plus buttons to lower or raise the count. Once a build is running, you can manage clones mid-build from the same window: use Unassign or Deassign to pull a single clone off a task, or Deassign all to clear the whole crew. These removal controls are what's documented for a running build — adding clones to a build that's already in progress isn't covered, so don't count on it when planning a large project.

What limits assignment size

How many clones you can assign is bounded by the clone capacity you have available. To crew a bigger project, the walkthrough points to opening More Clones to add capacity — it doesn't cover what that capacity costs or what it requires. When your clones are already committed to other work, queued builds wait under the Queued tab until clones are free. The walkthrough doesn't state a maximum number of clones a single build can take, so treat any cap as something to confirm in game.

Recheck the defaults after updates

The 3-clone default and the button names above come from a September 2026 gameplay walkthrough rather than official developer documentation. If an update changes the build menu, recheck the default crew size and the control labels in game before relying on them.
